Branch Activities

How can we appeal to your interest … how can our interests appeal to you?

  • Make new friends through one of our many interest groups
  • Connect with and serve your community
  • Support the education of girls and women
  • Utilize opportunities for personal development and education




  • Branch Programs.
    Assist with planning and obtaining speakers, facilities, and publicity.
  • Educational Foundation (EF).
    One of the corporations that makes up AAUW. Its focus is to award fellowhships, grants, etc. This committee assists the EF Chair with branch gift honorees, fellowship speakers, and branch fundraising.
  • GEMS (Girls Engaged in Math & Science).
    Assist teenage girls throughout the year with projects, activities, and field trips.
  • Hospitality.
    Provide refreshments and setup for branch events. Occasions include membership brunch (September), holiday party (December), officer installation Brunch (May), and possibly more.
  • Neighborhood Chair.
    Welcome new members in your area of the community, invite them to events, and help them become engaged with AAUW.
  • Newsletter.
    Assist in publishing our monthly newsletter. Responsibilities include collecting articles, layout, proof reading, printing, and mailing.
  • One Time Events.
    Assist with events such as summer barbecue (August), holiday party, special interbranch events, etc.
  • Public Policy.
    The chair informs our members of state and national legislative issues, offers online discussion of current events, and participates in public forums for local elections.
  • Scholarship Committee.
    Participate in the process of selecting scholarship winners from Morgan Hill high schools and Gavilan College. Mentor the recipients after graduation.
  • Taste of Morgan Hill.
    Take a shift at our booth (September).
  • Tech Trek.
    A one week math and science summer camp at Stanford University for local 7th grade girls. Interview candidates, read essays, provide supplies, or become a “dorm mom.”
  • Voter Education.
    Assist with election public forums (usually October), register voters, educate the public about non-partisan issues.
  • Website.
    Be part of the committee that is undertaking redesign of our branch website.
  • Wildflower Run.
    2K run, 5K run / walk, 10K run. This is Morgan Hill AAUW’s major fundraiser (and one of the most successful AAUW fundraisers in the country)! It raises money for local scholarships, as well as for Association fellowships and grants. All members are strongly encouraged to participate and new members find working at this event is a fine opportunity to establish new friendships in our community.
